Tao Ye, art director and founder of Tao Dance Theater, was born in Chongqing and graduated from Chongqing Dance School. He was a dancer in Art Troupe of Chinese Armed Police Force in Shanghai, Shanghai Jinxing Dance Theater, and Beijing Modern Dance Company. He founded the Tao Dance Theater at the age of 23 and created dance works of digit series including Weight×3, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12. Inspired by the Oriental thought, he created “Circular Movement System” combined with his own dancing style. The dancing system enjoys a high reputation in the world. He was invited to perform on the world-class Lincoln Center Festival in New York at the age of 27.
