Famous French translator, Hugo scholar

Cheng Zenghou, professor at School of Foreign Languages, Sun Yat-sen University. He studied and translated works of French poet Hugo, and was committed to studying Hugo' ties to Chinese culture. He has translated and published two biographies and three collections of poems of Hugo. His works include Hugo and Yuanmingyuan Park (2010 ed.) and Introduction of Hugo in 18 Chapters (2016 ed.), and the translated work of Notre-Dame de Paris (2018 ed.). He is currently a member of Chinese Writers Association, and joined the Société d’Histoire littéraire de la France as a correspondent member in 1985 and became a member of Société des Amis de Victor Hugo in 2002; he was awarded the Knight-grade of L'ordre des Palmes académiques in 2007 and Medal of Seine-Maritime in France in 2018.
